Yep. I’ve said that before. That awesome (sarcasm) uterine massage after having a baby? Yep, that did it.

Uterus Pinata was a new one though.

I adore that the creator is self aware – she knows it’s a little strange – Hell she links to Regretsy in her listing even.

I was a touch disturbed by this mental image:

I immediately pictured my kid yanking out tampons or whatever and threw up in my mouth a little.

I told my boyfriend about my dilemma – because candy stuffed uterus is totally normal conversation around here and his IMMEDIATE response was, “Oh totally those gummi lighthouses that really look like penises (penii? penipedes?)

I don’t get vagina art.

I’m not one of those women who’s freaked out by genitals, either–I like my vagina–but it strikes me as immodest to hang your junk out for the world to see. It also seems cruel to force the more prudish people out there, the ones who aren’t even comfortable with their own junk, let alone other people’s, to be unexpectedly confronted with a vagina.

“Oh, hey Sally, what’s that necklace your wearing?”

And I was raised in the SF Bay Area, home of progressive attitudes toward genitalia. So I have to think that there’s some disconnect going on (maybe it’s a result of all the BPAs?) in certain women (and men) that makes them think “art” like this is anything other than unnecessary.

What could it be? Is it a stick figure lady? Is it an apple with arms?

Nope, it’s a vagina!

Not only that, it’s a poorly drawn paper vagina lifting a dumbbell.

If you look at that shadow box and think “Hey, I’d hang that on my wall,” there is something wrong with you. Seek help.

Starts all cute, right? Awwwww, preggo doll getting ready to burst forth a life. Then, well, then there was placenta. See, what happened there was when the placenta, even though it’s just red felt, showed up I heard a loud buzzing and felt a pop. Then I went blind and lost all control of my bladder. So, I am pretty sure that I have suffered a major doll-placenta related stroke.

I went blind before I could even see the snap nipples or to fully comprehend the $130 price tag. Then something started leaking out of my ear at the thought of stuffing that little baby doll back up into the mama doll to relive the birthing experience.

Hermann Rorschach was born in 1884. He started showing inkblot pictures to children and analyzing their responses around 1910. In 1921 he published his book, Psychodiagnostik, that formed the basis for the diagnostic ink blot test. From his work, John E. Exner created the Exner Scoring System, which is to this day used with Rorschach’s inkblot tests in criminal investigations and mental health facilities around the world.

The woman who painted this sign might benefit from some Rorschach analysis.

Call me immature, or maybe oversexed, but when I first saw this there was only one word that came to mind and it was not Halloween.

While I wish its creator was a brilliant, devious mastermind who purposefully painted this equivalent of a folk art Rorschach and then posted it on Etsy for $110, I don’t think that’s the case. The rest of her work is whimsical and cute, and she sounds like a lovely, oblivious woman who has no idea that this piece looks like a 1970′s vagina.

I bet she also fails to see the irony of the “Welcome to Sleepy Hollow” sign.
