Step Away From the Polymer Clay

I know I haven’t been here in a long time and I’m sorry.  We have this awesome team of writers now and they are doing a fabulous job in holding down the fort.

I have been studying – and today, ironically enough, I was studying polymers. Today I learned that when you are working with polymers, things can go wrong very quickly and you could be inhaling toxic gases.

Not this kind of polymer, mind you.  Although the artist may have inhaled something.

If I was studying this, I would have a few observations.  It’s pretty.  It’s colourful. It’s useless.

From the listing:

Okay – came up with this idea to make something that was multifunctional – put on your bottle, small lamp shade. Turn it upside down and put your candle holder in it, small potted plant (maybe an African Violet or small herb planter) – you could hang it on your wall – use it as a hat for a doll – we could go on and on and on.

The smaller diameter is 2 1/2″ and the larger diameter is 4″. It is 2″ high.

And by small potted plant she just means pot right?

Thanks Alisha!

Ironic that, by trying to create something with many uses, this crafter created something of NO use, isn’t it?

I thought it was some sort of tiara until I read “hat for a doll”… if it was bigger, I’m sure somebody would wear it to a Renaissance festival as part of their Medusa costome.

  4. Robin Says:

Actually it kind of looks like a bun cage for hair.
