Peek-a-boo. I SEE YOU!

When I was young, my Uncle used to delight in terrifying us.

He would hide in cupboards and behind furniture and spring out, making this horrible rasping sound that only those with one lung are capable of.

Far from being disabled by his afflictions, he used this gurgling death rattle and his small spindly body to utmost advantage: Scaring the living shit out of his nieces and nephews.

And then he would laugh so hard we feared he would be hospitalised. Which would make him chuckle all the more.

When I saw this, I was reminded me of him.

And I am transported back to a pre-teen, secretly watching ‘When a stranger calls’ with my cousins at my grandparents house.  Just as the cop warns the babysitter that the call is coming FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE, out springs my Uncle from behind the loveseat…

    Roketto (17 comments.) Reply:

    They’re not satanic.

They’re actually Nordic runes – I saw this craft, & other than the creepier-than-anything figure emerging from the egg, I think it’s VERY cool.

I’ve studied runes a bit, so I appreciate any folksy art incorporating them.

Though, I would like to know the significance of the creepy dude emerging from the egg. I don’t remember anything like this in Norse mythology. o_o0
