Here Comes Santa Claus…In the Form of Debt

drowning in debt sculpture 2 Here Comes Santa Claus...In the Form of Debt

Using credit to pay for Christmas?  Guess what you’ll be doing in January and February?  At least you won’t be alone!

Drowning in debt never looked so lifelike.  Great sculpture!

Oh god, that’s cool, but really creeped me out for some reason! LOL

Awesome piece…not really a craftastrophe IMHO but then again, the artist is a dear friend!

  4. Katherine Says:

I actually kinda like it. I wouldn’t buy it or anything like that, but, if I saw it in a store, I’m definitely chuckle and look twice.

I always wondered what people do with those sample cards that come with credit card offers!

    Katherine Buetow Branson Reply:

The cards you see are not sample cards, they are part of the work itself. They measure about 8.5″ x 5.5″, the entire sculpture measures about 16″ wide x 16″ long x 20″ tall.

The artist, FWIW, is Lisa Ambrose.

  6. Lisa Ambrose Says:

Thanks Kathy (and Karen)! Kathy is right, these are not sample cards……I hand-painted each one on hardboard and then cut them out. The figure is sculpted using Super Sculpey and the shirt/tie was hand-stitched (with out a pattern…..hellish!). I created this piece specifically for a three-person art show that premiered in November.

I am an art student studying Illustration at Kendall College of Art & Design. I am very new to sculpting but am pleased with the results I’m getting already.

    Awesome, and scarily true!

(not for me… but for many!!) A good reason to not become enslaved to your cards!

That is actually really awesome…would it fit in handbag to remind you not to use the cards so much?
