Aw, look I'm on Craftastrophe again!

I actually really like rabbits and had three different house rabbits. They never gnawed off my arm. :) I got scratched a few times when they got startled, but never bitten. They were darling creatures and would even coo like doves when happy.

Two of them were rescued bunnies that some !@#$%^ had released into the wild shortly after Easter, when the novelty had worn off.

But really, no, rabbits, do NOT make good pets for small children because they don't really like being picked up and will struggle to be put down. It's easy for a little kid to get scratched or kicked hard and then they won't want anything to do with rabbit. Or worse, the kid may drop the rabbit and injure its back.

They're the third most common animal in shelters because people buy them for kids thinking they'll be like live stuffed animals. Rabbits are very similar to cats in the amount of time and attention they need. (and damage they can do if they bite or scratch) If the kid isn't old enough to take care of a cat by themselves, they shouldn't get a rabbit either.

PSA over.

This reminds me of when I was about 2 yrs old and I put my hand in a rabbits cage and was BITTEN on my finger by a rabbit. Had to have stitches and still have a scar 50 years later. They are vicious animals!
