My uncle used to do quite a bit of woodworking and kept one of these (made one for my grandmother as well) in the house during the Thanksgiving season. DumDums were our fillers, though.

Not really for counting down the days.
Just a nostalgic something, like Cissa said.

My mother actually painted a similar ceramic turkey like the first craft. She would but blow pops in it for us and set it out on thanksgiving so the kids had a treat.

We were not allowed to get a lolipop without permission and our parents would make us do all this stuff to get the chance to get the “turkey pops”. I have fond memories of it actually!

LOL, I don’t think the pilgrims brought lollipops to the feast. I like that the turkey has a sign that says “eat beef” Nothing like a little guilt about what you’re eating at Thanksgiving.
