Karen and I would love to wish our Americus friends a very Happy 4th of July! I hope you’re enjoying your hot dogs, hamburgers and family gatherings.
(Psssst. Today is also Karen’s birthday!)
Happy Birthday Karen!!
When it comes to the fourth of July, I always think of the Team America: World Police theme song (if you click the link please beware that it’s explicit and NSFW, old people, or most family gatherings).
(It’s likely entirely inappropriate seeing as I am Canadian and it’s a parody of America but! I mean no disrespect, it’s just funny and makes me laugh.)
(This site hasn’t ever been known for being appropriate or non-judgmental, has it? I mean, you have read it, right?)
(If you have a moment, I highly recommend reading the comments on the YouTube thread. Hilarious!)
And if you’re so inclined, you could sport this beaut to the fireworks show this evening!

Maybe a new resin Barbie face necklace?
From the listing:
For this pendant, I used the bluest eyes, the reddest lips, and the whitest cap I could find!
This pendant measures two inches long and 1.5 inches wide, and half an inch deep. Shipped on black rubber tubing with a little black cap for the toggle clasp. (It would probably look a lot better on a gold chain.)
(I always laugh when a crafter states that they could have something different to make their item more appealing but chose not to.)

And now, the grand finale! The grand poobah!
If this isn’t upcycled I don’t know what is!
From the listing:
This is a ONE OF A KIND design!! Here is a very patriotic Uncle Sam holding his American Flag!! His face is a copy from an antique picture from my collection! His body is made from vintage silvery gray and sky blue chenille stems ~ a vintage silver Christmas light bulb reflector is behind his head to add some holiday sparkle ~ blue tinsel pipe cleaner hanger!
(P.S. I think “vintage chenille stems” is code for “used pipe cleaners”)

Have a great 4th of July America!
Love your Crazy Canuck friends!

Wait.
Do you mean forever, or just for now?
July 4th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
Haha, Uncle Sam looks like a mutant reject from “Where the Wild Things Are”. loooove it

I love that his flag has old cheeseburger grease-spots on it! Classy.

Really? A Barbie face? Stuck in a soda pop screw top? With a crystal flag? What? Really?

the kids are looking over my shoulder as I read this. “Wait!” says the 3 year old. “What’s that?” he asks, pointing to the Uncle Sam monstrosity.
“I’m not too fuckin’ sure.” I reply before coming up with a more acceptable response. “Well, it’s supposed to be Uncle Sam, but usually he’s not so creepy looking.”
“Yea, he sure is creepy looking,” he replies, and follows up with, “oooh!”
so now you’ve frightened my children too. Nice work.

If you’re going to make fun of 4th of July, you should make fun of Canada Day too.
I love the barbie pendant because it is psychotic and yet enlightening, and I like how you enjoy being inappropriate. However, as a proud citizen of USA, don’t dish it unless you can take it. Do you want to see artwork involving hockey and moose?

Dude! Got some moose and hockey I’ll post it.
Even better? Moose playing hockey. Preferably moose wearing hockey sweaters and helmets too. I’m SURE there’s something kicking around the internet.

Well, unfortunately, not everyone in the world knows how to take a joke or laugh at themselves. I would be willing to bet no one would have made a negative comment about your crafts if you had been American, probably just thought it to themselves.
But, as an American, I think they are great! I like the necklace the best.

So American’s are PROUD of this crap? Man, I am more frightened than ever!
And seriously Sam, I didn’t take it as making fun of a National Holiday, I saw it as making fun of the Crazy American Crafters who are trying to turn our National Holiday into a JOKE!

As an American, can I just say that these are all pieces of junk? Thank you.
