Larissa-
Your stuff is outrageously expensive and your "sales" don't look good, do they? Maybe you get lucky and sell a few at art shows, I don't know.

Either way, it's an insult to artists, especially those that make wearable are that is to, well, WEAR. It's meant to be worn and seen and I know many artists who pour their heart and soul into their work and take a lesser price to see their pieces go to someone who will love it and show it off in the world. At least, that's my philosophy.

Why am I not surprised at the negitive comments. I studied and practised Yoga for many years and found so many of the so called devotees were shallow, negative hypocrites. If you can't say something nice about something or someone, just ask one of the bogey yogies, they always have something bad to say. As for not paying $2500.00 for a work of art most of the "enlightend ones" don't like to pay for anything.

I feel like there are a couple of more things I need to write here.

To me namaste is the kindest word a human can say to another. I thought this was a fitting name for this piece of jewelry. This is the most elaborate piece I have ever made. I reached deep into my soul to create something that was very technically challenging. I wanted to make something that was over the top and I believe I succeeded in that. I originally made it specifically for a jewelry competition, so I have taken constructive criticism about this piece, twice. No big deal.

I put many hours into this necklace. Hence the, TWENTY.FIVE.HUNDRED.DOLLAR price tag. Actually it should cost more. I just recently adjusted all my prices so if I work as much as I have been on my art for the last 11 years I will be able to support my family, husband, two kids and all, by doing what I love. I didn't adjust the price of this necklace, so it should be more.

This necklace is an example of the whole being more than just the sum of it's parts. Once it was all put together it had it's own energy. It's a powerful necklace and it has touched people. I let one young woman with cancer wear it around a craft fair for a while, when she returned it she was nearly in tears and so grateful.

I am not considering being featured on craftastrophe as a badge of honor. I don't consider someone taking my images without my permission and writing negative things about them an honor, but hey America is a free country and we have the beauty of free speech.

I'm happy to hear that some of you actually think some of my other work is pretty. Thanks. I think it's important to remember that there is a big difference between constructive criticism and talking trash. I welcome constructive criticism, not talking trash. If you want to give me constructive criticism, feel free to convo me on etsy.

Have a lovely Sunday :) Larissa

oh my gah... deal with it. seriously. i'm so tired of this whole "feel good about yourself and pretend like everyone LOVES you" society. I don't feel bad for this girl, and I wouldnt expect anyone to feel bad for me in this situation. She has probably had more hits on her etsy site than she EVER has. I would wear craftastrophe as badge of honor.

Maybe it's just me, but I have never liked lamp work. I've done it myself, and you know who the biggest buyer of it is? Old ladies. It all looks like old lady jewelry to me. I'm sure she puts a lot of work into it, and I'm glad someone does it, but deffo not for me.

Hey Larissa and "sister" and other guy,
I just took a look through your other pieces and it seems to me like they've found the most gaudy and heavy of them all. The rest of the pieces are gorgeous (especially the matte beads). Considering the price of your individual beads, the cost of this necklace as a whole kind of makes sense.
That said, I'm really glad you were able to find the humor in the situation (although it seems like your sister and friend didn't...). This site isn't about the writer's self esteem issues or "knocking people off their pedestals." It's about fun. I even think there can be value in the off-beat, sometimes horrifying crafts that are featured here- they show innovation and TRUE creativity.

I for one get the message. From now on should I spread hate, pain, negativity, and shame only to the DESERVING, as the yoginis here have taught me?
Reminds me of a Hot Yoga teacher named Mark I tried who reneged on his sign-up deal. He told me it was allowed by the "fine print" (which he then conceded wasn't actually written down anywhere). After I suggested I would go to Small Claims court, he caved in and gave me a refund, but spitefully told me he hoped I would continue doing yoga "somewhere" because I "sure needed it." I just kept saying, "Thank you, Mark."
If I do yoga maybe I could learn to swear like some of the practitioners here, but I think I'll stick with Buddhist meditation instead. It helps me see the humor in other people's actions.
Girls, anybody can be "spiritual" when people adore you; the test is how you react when you and others are suffering.

Wow. Karolina, there are a few things to remember here - if you don't like it, there is a little red X in the corner of your screen - use it. Also, Larissa found the humor while you, apparently, have not. And this site? FOR FUN, dammit! So freaking relax, take a pill and find your sense of humor. Or just go away.

SIGH. That said...

Her work is very impressive, as an artisan. Definitely not my style...looks like it weighs more than my head!! I love glass beads to look at, but the center bead kinda hurts my eyeballs.

Larissa was hurt but never expressed rage - her sister rose to her defense like most good siblings would when their sister was being attacked (by bullies or otherwise) - and in the process was fiercely protective - even harsh & definitely uncensored. Talking down about others is a game - in much the same way as some girls spread rumors, get pleasure out of putting others down. Usually this stems from a deep sense of inadequacy - a need to push others down to feel greater than. Really harmful behavior - whatever stories we tell ourselves. I'm sure that Larissa would be completely open to constructive criticism - but I guess that wouldn't be as much "fun". "Art saves lives" - I'm sure that Larissa is a solid human being but not all people you trash might be. Careful lest you do more harm than you will ever know.
