Walking Beer Fridge Scarf

hippy scarf Walking Beer Fridge Scarf

I am going to make this woman an honourary Canadian.  Long scarf, winter background, references to travelers (traveling with beer)…she’s a genius.

Annie sent me the link for this wicked fun scarf which would get laughed out of California, but yanno, it’s just because they’re jealous, eh!

From the listing:

Very long scarf

I am 5′ 10″ and it is almost too long for me

This scarf wraps around your legs while walking or sitting to help keep you extra warm

It has two large pockets for cold fingers, your wallet or even beers (I have one and it holds exactly 6 cans of beer)

Here’s the thing. I’m moving into a new neighbourhood next weekend and I’m told that these neighbours of mine like to walk through suburbia, ever so slightly imbibed, checking in on neighbours and socializing in garages. It’s very neighbourly. It’s also very cold here. Like booger-freezing temperatures. Hence the need for beers and long scarves that hold beers.

You’d think a coat with pockets would do the trick, but no.  When the temperature goes above zero here, we don’t wear coats.  Zero is warm.

I kind of love this scarf.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! You said “booger freezing cold” you totally need you one of these. I will make you one for free in less UGLY colors if you want for free. My OCD is on overdrive and knitting stupid stuff is the only thing that soothes that ugly beast. Or is it just further feeding that beast?

I wish it wasn’t so long, I sooo want one of those! Of course I would look a little odd wearing it, it was over 80 here yesterday.

    I love this! x

*L* I love it! But 6 cans of beer around your neck? Sounds like it would be painful after a while. And wouldn’t it be dangerous to open the cans after walking around with them for a while? LOL

I could totally wear one of these. Just to freak out my neighbours.

    Anna’s last blog post..Score!!

Californians can suck it. I love giant homemade scarves and the cozy winter weather that requires them.

Speaking as a Californian, (a) it’s like 55 degrees here, and (b) I kinda like this. It’s a scarf! It’s kind of a skirt! It holds beer! What’s not to love?

Ha-ha! Just what a drunk needs, a 10-foot scarf tangled around their legs!
Why is there not a separate “pot pocket”???!

This scarf would be a universal accessory in Fairbanks! We would all be sporting these scarf/winter chaps/alcohol toting duds when it warmed up to 0 degrees.

Actually, I wore a very similar scarf for years when I lived on the East Coast. Mom, bless her heart, made it for me since I was a huge Dr. Who fan (Tom Baker–you never forget your first Doctor). It’s really incredibly practical. The length is great when you have to site in a cold room (classroom, theatre, etc.). There’s enough to wrap your head if you forget your hat and the wind really kicks up. Rolled it into a pillow more than once in the student union, which was a half a mile closer to most of my classes than the dorm (ah, college).
The pockets are just silly though.

It’s warm, it’s colorful, it holds a six pack – isn’t that like Canadian lingerie?
