I purposely don’t buy things with any sort of fur on them because I’ve seen quite a bit of footage where dogs and cats in China were caged in these overcrowded wire crates, dropped from loading dock height onto concrete floors and strung up one by one to have their fur ripped off of their broken bodies, while they were still alive. The suffering is highly disturbing and unbearable to watch.
So when I cruise by a dollar store and see bobble-head trinkets lined up, covered in fur, I think of those dogs and cats. When I went to buy a hoodie the other day, they had the nicest chocolate brown one, but the hood was lined in fur and so I passed it over. (I avoid anything made in China anyway, and these hoodies were.)
While I completely support crafters, when I see “faux fur” or “recycled fur,” I can’t help but cringe.
Regardless of my beliefs, this is just a crime against fashion:
And if that weren’t bad enough, this same crafter has decided that earrings resembling caterpillars is A-okay:
Furthermore, this crafter has designed a necklace to look like a lemer tail (made from mink), a ring made from fox fur, and a bobby pin similar to the ring.
Needless to say, I threw up my breakfast this morning. While our site normally focuses on the funny, this is no laughing matter. At least to me, anyway.

Dying laughing.
I’d so wear those.
Just to look at the horrified glances of those around me. Too funny.

Eww, fur earrings? Ok, the hat is bad too. Reminds me of that one gremlin from the movie Gremlins – he had a mohawk.

You’re okay, baby. If you hadn’t written any of that, it WOULD have been hilarious! A mohawk on a beanie? WTF?

I recently bought a vest with faux fur trim and as soon as I read this, I went to my closet to see where it was made…Vietnam, not China! For some reason, I’m still not really comforted by that.
I totally agree with the squirrel tail comment. If that girl turned around I would expect to see a woodland creature sitting on her neck, gnawing on some walnuts.

I wonder if the lemur gets any comfort out of the statement that it’s tail has been recycled.

I used to have a boss I called “Squirrelhead” because of his very bad toupee’. It looked like roadkill on his head. Why would he buy that and why would anyone buy this? I am reminded of the fake fur strips sold when I was a small child. If they were layed flat and stroked, they’d move in “inchworm” fashion. Makes me want to pat the model’s head. As for the earrings, PETA is bad enough with throwing paint on fur coats, can you imagine them ripping those off your ears? yeeeowww!

Did you happen to notice that all of the fur she uses is RECYCLED? As in, these animals were already long dead and made into fur coats years ago. She is just repurposing them and extending the use of the fur. She didn’t buy this fur new from China or anywhere else.
IMHO, I think it’s even more disrespectful of the animals to send those already-made fur coats to the landfill…even though, at the landfill they’d biodegrade, whereas synthetic fur will sit there forever.

I’m trying to come up with something obnoxious and funny to say, but the first part of this post made me tear up.
