Remember those ceramic frogs that sit on the kitchen counter with their mouthes agape, waiting hold the scuzzy steel wool used to scrub your pots? I’ve been looking for one of those for years. Srsly. I’ve wanted one for my kitchen for as long as I can remember but I’ve been totally and utterly unsuccessful in my search. I am beginning to believe it’s because people are more apt to create and sell items such as this.

I actually own a couple of cat figurines very similar to this one, but it is my understanding that they were originally designed to hold cotton balls. The idea was, the cotton would puff up out of the opening like a bunny tail. I actually use mine in the living room–to hold the bits of hardware that attach my air conditioner to the window sill, during the winter when the a.c. is stored away. Otherwise I would lose the screws that fit the holes. I also have a whale that was intended to be an open-mouthed ashtray, but for me he holds an x-acto knife at my desk.
The toothbrush holder photo is disturbing. I know if he was at my house, with my real live cats, they would try to steal the brush, and as a result the ceramic kitty would be broken.
Plus, I got mine for about 25 cents or 50 cents, at yard sales. NO WAY it’d be worth major bucks, at least to me.

Well, crap! I had a scrubbie frog that my husband ignored for years, so when we moved I gave it to Goodwill. If only I’d known, I would’ve gladly sent it to you!
As for this cat…it’s totally the kind of thing I’d put out when friends were staying over, just to mess with them.
