When a childless couple learn that they cannot have children, it causes great distress. To ease his wife's pain, the man finds a stump in the backyard and chops it and varnishes it into the shape of a child. However the woman takes the root as her baby and starts to pretend that it is real. When the root takes life they seem to have gained a child; but its appetite is much greater than that of a normal child. {source}My first thought? I pray upon all the nipples in the world that she doesn't breastfeed that thing.

Reminds me of a line from an old Twilight Zone -the woman was a great gardener and at some point there was a fracass and she lost a finger so she “buried” it in the garden. She ultimately dies, then at the end reappears, eerily rocking in a chair with vines all over her body. She says, “Everything I plan grows … even me!” muuuhahahahahaha
