Little Otik: I Must Rent This Movie

il 430xn31084536 Little Otik: I Must Rent This Movie

So Suebob sent us the link for this “art doll,” and it’s appearance startled me.  Of course I had to read about why someone would create such a strange item.

Here’s the plot of the movie this piece is based on:

When a childless couple learn that they cannot have children, it causes great distress. To ease his wife’s pain, the man finds a stump in the backyard and chops it and varnishes it into the shape of a child. However the woman takes the root as her baby and starts to pretend that it is real. When the root takes life they seem to have gained a child; but its appetite is much greater than that of a normal child. {source}

My first thought?  I pray upon all the nipples in the world that she doesn’t breastfeed that thing.

    Reminds me of a line from an old Twilight Zone -the woman was a great gardener and at some point there was a fracass and she lost a finger so she “buried” it in the garden. She ultimately dies, then at the end reappears, eerily rocking in a chair with vines all over her body. She says, “Everything I plan grows … even me!” muuuhahahahahaha
